Verdion has confirmed that rail industry specialist Steve Freeman has been appointed as Managing Director of the iPort Rail freight hub in Doncaster.
Steve has over 35 years in the global railway industry, with a strong background in railway operations, business and operational start-up, and project delivery. Currently Chairman of Stanway Consulting, he has previously worked with Etihad Rail and Mott McDonald, with experience of both public and private sector rail project delivery.
John Clements, European Development Director of Verdion, said: “iPort Rail is a vital part of the wider iPort hub and to be successful we need someone with both the skills to take it from inception to operation and experience in large rail sector operations. Steve was a great fit for the role and we’re looking forward to working with him to get the project moving further forward.”
Steve Freeman is a Fellow of the Institute of Railway Operators (FIRO), a Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (MIOSH), a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (MILT) and Member of the Institute of Directors (MIoD).
