With lockdown measures easing and life across the UK slowly returning to a new normal, iPort Rail is ready and fully prepared to meet increasing demand from across the industry again.
Throughout the crisis, we remained fully operational to support our customers and partners, ensuring that we continue to provide an excellent service. Crucially, this allowed for cargo flows to stay on the move as much as possible despite worldwide disruption.
Gavin Clark, European Supply Chain Manager at Fellowes, said: “The advent of and the innovative approach taken by the team at iPort Rail has changed/transformed the way Fellowes Brands move our containerised imports into the UK from Asia and North America.
“To have a modern efficient railhead on site, 600m from our main UK Distribution Centre has simplified our flow of containers, added flexibility and led to substantial cost savings for Fellowes Brands.
“We are delighted with all aspects of iPort Rail; they have facilitated our supply chain and very recently been helpful through the Covid crisis.”
As more businesses open in the coming weeks and supply chain activity accelerates, we have been working behind the scenes to bring forward a more resilient service that will benefit our customers for many years to come, including new staff training and reviewing some of our processes. “Above all, we are pleased to have been able to support all our customers throughout the crisis,” said Managing Director Steve Freeman. “Flexibility and operational efficiency remain at the heart of what we do, and we are looking forward to supporting businesses as the country starts to return to more normal working patterns.”
